Claudia Binder appointed delegate of the Research Council for NRP 66 and 68
Claudia Binder is the new delegate of the Research Council for the National Research Programmes "Resource Wood" and "Soil as a Resource".
Professor Claudia R. Binder was born in Montreal and raised in Canada, Columbia and Switzerland. After studying natural sciences and obtaining a doctorate in environmental sciences at ETH Zurich, she wrote her habilitation in the area of human-environment systems: "Concept and models on material stocks and flows in human-environment systems: A contribution to transition towards sustainable development". She was Professor of Human Environmental Relations at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich from October 2011 until the end of 2015. Since 2016, she has been director of the human-environment relations in urban systmes chair at EPF Lausanne.
On 1 January 2016, Claudia R. Binder became delegate of the Research Council for the National Research Programmes "Resource Wood" (NRP 66) and "Soil as a Resource" (NRP 68). She succeeds Nina Buchmann, whose mandate as a member of the National Research Council has ended.
For each NRP, a delegate of the National Research Council is elected. They play an important role for the NRP as they secure good communication between the National Research Council and the Steering Committee and also monitor compliance with the guidelines and standards issued for conducting NRPs.
